Petro (2023)

The film “Petro” (2023), directed by Sean Mattison, offers a comprehensive look at the political journey of Colombian President Gustavo Petro, from his early days as a guerrilla leader of M-19 to his campaign for the presidency. The documentary captures key moments and challenges in Petro’s political career, as well as the broader movement of Colombian progressivism, culminating in his election as Colombia’s first left-wing president.

The movie, produced by American companies Guagua Productions and Long Count Films in collaboration with the Spanish company Mil y Una Historias, has garnered international recognition. It received an Honorable Mention for Best Documentary Feature at the Slamdance Film Festival and was featured at other notable film festivals such as the International Film Festival of Morelia and the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana​
